Home-Start Daventry and South Northants

Home-Start Daventry and South Northants is a voluntary organisation that offers support and practical help to young families living in South Northamptonshire and Daventry Districts. All families supported by the scheme are experiencing difficult or stressful situations and have at least one child under five years old.

They offer a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers, who are parents’ themselves, to visit families in their homes for a couple of hours a week. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support that helps to increase the parent’s self-esteem and confidence and their ability to cope, helping to prevent family breakdown.

Families ask for their support for many reasons: perhaps they are struggling to cope with postnatal illness, multiple births, have a child or parent with a disability, family breakdown, domestic abuse, substance misuse, bereavement or maybe they feel isolated and unable to connect with their local community.
